Apia, SAMOA – November 30, 2020: 2:06pm (RNZ PACIFIC): Samoa and Fiji have secured an agreement to improve investment opportunities between both countries.
During the historic virtual discussions on Wednesday, officials from both governments renewed calls to revamp diplomatic and trade relations once their borders open.
The regional collaboration sees support between the Samoa National Provident Fund, Unit Trust of Samoa and the Unit Trust of Fiji.
Fiji’s Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the deal also allowed both parties to invest based on the agreed framework which extends to key industry sectors.
Samoa’s National Provident Fund, its Unit Trust and the Parliamentary Scheme have invested $US7.7 million with the Unit Trust of Fiji.
