Nuku’alofa – April 26, 2021: 3.40pm (Nuku’alofa Times): An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 struck about 200 km (125 miles) off the coast of Tonga earlier this morning.
The shake was felt across Tongatapu, as testified by some who posted on Facebook straight after they felt it.
The United States Geological Survey and the Fiji Seismology Unit at the Mineral Resources Department in Nabua, Suva both released advisories on the earthquake.
The quake was at a depth of 234 kilometres.
But it was not strong enough to create any tsunami threat to Tonga
