Nuku’alofa – September 16, 2021: 9.55am (Nuku’alofa Times): The opening rounds of the Tonga Rugby Union Centennial Rugby Championship will be held at the Ha’alano Rugby Ground in Kolomotu’a tomorrow.

Tournament Director ‘Aisea Aholelei confirmed this today.

“We are moving the first day of matches to the Ha’alano Ground because the pitch at Te’ufaiva Stadium is deteriorating because of the rain,” ‘Aisea told Times Sports this morning.

All teams will be in action tomorrow, except for Ha’apai and Vava’u, who asked that they play on Saturday.

The tournament is jointly organised and funded by the World Rugby, Government and TRU.

All players who participate will be paid.

Teams are from Tongatapu (4), ‘Eua, Ha’apai, Vava’u and the two Niuas combined.

Men’s and women’s teams are going to be competing for the top prizemonies of $10,000 pa’anga and $5,000 pa’anga respectively.
