Nuku’alofa – November 3, 2021: 1.15pm (Nuku’alofa Times): Some experienced players have joined the ‘Ikale Tahi squad before the Testa aianst England this weekend.
Head coach Toutai Kefu, who is in Brisbane, said the players will add experiece to the squad, with the team to play England to be named tomorrow.
heavyweight prop Ben Tameifuna, Telusa Veainu, Paula Ngauamo, Ma’afu Fia, Siegfreid Fisi’ihoi and Sione Vailanu have all joined the squad.
Also joining are former Wallaby Lopeti Timani, Afusipa Taumoepeau and former Mate Ma’a Tonga Solomone Kata.
Kefu said this was done with a focus on the Rugby World Cup 2023 qualifier in mind.
“We are building a solid depth chart as we approach the qualifiers for the RWC2023 in July next year. Our team will play Hong Kong in Tonga and our team will be ready with experience and ability in all positions,” he said.
Following last weekend’s thrashing from Scotland, the national rugby side will be looking at improving its game this weekend.
